We are the HOPE Initiative

Our goal is to help New Mexicans understand, prevent and get help with opioid misuse and dependence.

At a time when the entire nation is confronting an opioid crisis that affecting Americans from every background and walk-of-life, New Mexico is also facing one of the nation’s highest overdose death rates. UNM Health Sciences and the U.S. Attorney’s Office launched the New Mexico HOPE (Heroin and Opioid Prevention and Education) – Initiative in January 2015 the consequences of heroin and prescription opioid use affect all New Mexicans by impacting public health, public safety, and the economic viability of our communities.
